MSI Information Services

Creating a Proprietary Parent Brand Through Distinctive Symbols

With a legacy dating back to 1876, MSI Information Services operates the world’s most storied brands in library sciences and children’s literature: Library Journal, School Library Journal, The Horn Book and Junior Library Guild. MSI turned to BrandCulture to develop a new a corporate parent brand that captured the common goal of literacy and learning that unites the company’s editorial publications with its collection development services. We combined instantly recognizable punctuation marks with an arresting color palette to unite MSI’s brands in the world of language and reading for children and adults alike.

We then extended the system to the subsidiary brands to create a common visual resonance across the subsidiary companies that also allows them to retain their distinctive individual identities.
